Bloemfontein Celtic have considered making a swoop for Kosta Papic in an attempt to save their faltering season.

A source has revealed that Papic travelled to Bloemfontein on Tuesday after handing in his resignation at Black Leopards.

The source said the reason for Papic going to Bloemfontein was to discuss a possible move to struggling Celtic, who look set to show Serame Letsoaka the door.

Papic, who usually flies out of the country when he gets fired or resigns from a club, said he would not be leaving the country and that he "will see what happens in the future" when he spoke to Sowetan after his resignation on Tuesday.

The last time the Serbian was out of a job, it didn't take him long to find another one.

Papic parted ways with Polokwane City on October 14 and by November 6 he was announced as Black Leopards' new coach.

The 55-year-old has coached numerous clubs in South Africa.

His first coaching job in the country was at Orlando Pirates and he has since guided Maritzburg United, Kaizer Chiefs, Polokwane City, Chippa United and Black Leopards.

Celtic chief executive Khumbulano Konco said they continued to back Letsoaka, while chairman Max Tshabalala has been barred from talking to the media after he hastily announced that he would be putting the club up for sale before changing his mind.

"There is no such thing. I am surprised you are asking me that," Konco said.

Papic said he knew nothing about a move to Celtic.

"No [there are no offers]. I have heard rumours [about Celtic], but no one has approached me. So I cannot say anything now," he said yesterday.
