Who is going to win the Soweto derby? It’s a question people are finding hard to answer and no one can be blamed for that because both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are struggling.

In the end‚ it seems the safest prediction for most is a draw.

We spoke to a few of the former players and coaches who know the clubs well.

Farouk Khan (analyst and former Chiefs assistant coach)

Prediction: Draw

It’s a tough one. Both teams have not been playing the type of football we know. They have fallen behind the likes of Sundowns and Aces. Both teams are not on form and I think they will be cautious. Therefore I think it be a scoring draw.

Helman Mkhalele (former Pirates winger)

Prediction: Pirates win

That’s a difficult one. I think Pirates have to win this one because of their position on the log. But Chiefs have to win as well because if they do not win teams like Sundowns will open the gap. But my money is on Pirates for this one.

Pollen Ndlanya (former Pirates and Chiefs striker)

Prediction: Draw

It’s not easy to predict. Look at the previous performances of both teams. They lost. A lot of people will say Kaizer Chiefs will win this one based on the position on the table‚ but I think it will finish as a draw. The coaches will go there with a cautious mind. Pirates are worried about relegation and Chiefs want to catch up at the top. It’s going to be a tough one.

Stanton Fredericks (former Pirates and Chiefs midfielder)

Prediction: Draw

I think it will finish 1-1. I would love to be proven wrong and I would love to see attacking football‚ but the situation for both teams at the moment will call for them to be cautious. I think with that caution we will see a draw. I am not saying that to remain neutral. I really think it will be a draw.
