Serame Letsoaka has revealed that Bloemfontein Celtic gave him a call immediately after his resignation letter was posted on social media by his previous club, Golden Arrows, last week.

Celtic reacted quickly to Letsoaka's surprise separation with Arrows, despite having the CVs of many other coaches who were eager to take over after Clinton Larsen quit due to a fallout with management a fortnight ago.

Letsoaka, who was building something quite special at Arrows before resigning, was officially unveiled as Celtic coach on a three-and-a-half-year deal yesterday after his appointment was confirmed on the club website last Thursday.

Letsoaka could not be happier that he has returned to the club having previously worked as an assistant to the late Styles Phumo 15 years ago.

"I am quite excited. It has been an aspiration to coach one of the top five teams in the country.

"It has happened so quickly after the letter that was put on social media. While Celtic were looking through the CVs of the coaches, they called me to find out if it was true. I confirmed that it's true.

"I was here 15 years ago and the previous owner, Jimmy Augousti, always said he wants to see me coaching this team one day. It has always been in my mind and it's an honour to be here."

In Letsoaka's resignation letter, he explained that working in Durban was putting a strain on his family, but said it was never about the distance.

"The media made the interpretation that it was about distance. It was not about distance. I never said it is far. I needed to relocate my family to Durban and get a school for my kids. When it was impossible, I felt it was something I could not take," said Letsoaka, who has a house in Johannesburg and two in Free State.

Letsoaka, the former Safa technical director, lauded Larsen for putting together a strong squad that he believes can compete with the big guns in the PSL in future.
