Generous Mashamaite hands 'Player of the Season' award to Mathoho

The ever hard- working Kaizer Chiefs’ captain Tefu Mashamaite handed his Player of the Season award to his co-defender Eric "Tower" Mathoho on Wednesday evening at the club’s prestigious awards ceremony held in Midrand.

"Tefu accepted the award and handed it over to his fellow team mate Eric Mathoho", said the clubs media manager Vina Maphosa.

Amakhosi broke all kinds of records including winning the league with a highest number of points(69 ), the biggest margin over the runners-up Mamelodi Sundowns by 12 points.

Mashamaite added a further R160000 to the R450000 he racked up on Sunday at Premier Soccer League awards. The defender won R100000 for player of the season, R50000 for being voted the fans' player of the season, and R10000 for being the side's best player in May.

“I have nothing but praise for my players, whose dedication throughout the campaign has deservedly been rewarded by the results we have achieved,” said Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter.

“I always stress that the league title is a must have, while breaking records is a nice to have. Still, these records are proof of how phenomenal we did this season.”
