Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane views tomorrow's Nedbank Cup final against Ajax Cape Town as a chance to save face after they surrendered the league championship to Kaizer Chiefs.

"For the brand of our team and our supporters who will be travelling all the way to come watch us play here, it's important to win the cup," Mosimane said ahead of tomorrow's final (3pm).

"It's important to win the cup for the profile of our team. It's important that Mamelodi Sundowns every year should be able to at least lift a cup. But we don't buy the cup, we play for it. We need to play for it and we need to earn it. It's not easy playing against Ajax because they also need the cup."

Unlike Ajax coach Roger De Sa, who has a youthful squad, Mosimane says there is no place for grooming young players in a cup final.

"I am in another space where nobody wants to hear about youngsters. We won a trophy last year [the league championship[, it's gone and we have to go and get it. So there is no space to bring in youngsters."

The former Bafana Bafana coach said his side were ready for the challenge Ajax will present.

"A cup final is not a game of tactics. A cup final is about rising to the occasion; it's who wants it and who has the legs of steel.

"Ninety-five percent of the teams, when we play them, they sit back and it's our job to break the wall.

"We are not here to be showing off against Ajax, we want to win the cup, so if we have to play quiet, we will play quiet."

ROUTE TO THE FINAL:

Sundowns: v Thanda Royal Zulu (2-0), Platinum Stars (3-1), Black Aces (2-0) and Vasco da Gama (1-0).

Ajax: v Mainstay United (9-1), Bloem Celtic (1-0), Bidvest Wits (2-1) and SuperSport (2-1)
