Chiefs defender out on bail

Kaizer Chiefs left-back Simphiwe Mtsweni has been released on bail after he was caught speeding over the weekend on the N12 in Alberton.

'Starter Pack' as he is affectionately known to fans was allegedly unlawfully driving at 196km/h when the cops caught him with a speed trap.

The 20-year-old allegedly didn’t stop, forcing the cops to chase after him.

“It reportedly took three Ekurhuleni Metro police on motorbikes and one in a cop car to eventually corner him at the Edenvale exit on the R21 freeway,” the Daily Sun reports.

He allegedly told the police that he was rushing to a club soccer camp.

Mtsweni appeared at the Palm Ridge Court on Monday after being charged with reckless driving.

Chiefs spokesman Vina Maphosa said: “This is the player’s personal matter. The club can’t comment further.”
