NEW Bloemfontein Celtic coach Serame Letsoaka has set a personal target of 58 points for the club this season, as he looks to make an immediate impact in Free State.

Roped in after the departure of Clinton Larsen recently, Letsoaka has set the bar high and is confident they can achieve the goal, especially with the strong squad Celtic have built this season.

Phunya SeleSele, who are in sixth place in the Absa Premiership on 16 points, need 42 more points to reach the target set by Letsoaka, meaning there will be very little room for error as they aim to finish in the top three.

The highest Celtic have finished in the PSL is fifth - in the 2010-2011 and 2012-2013 seasons - and the most points they have collected is 52, in 2010-2011.

"The target I set myself for this season is 58. It is a possibility. You never know where 58 can get you. The winners of the league have finished on 58 points before, so if we get those points then I think we can get a respectable finish on the table," Letsoaka said.

"If you look at players that we have, it's achievable. I must laud Clinton for the players he brought in."

The coach would love to bring cup success to the club. Celtic last won a trophy in 2012, when they beat Mamelodi Sundowns to lift the Telkom Knockout title.

"Personally, there is a lot of things I want to achieve and I cannot achieve them alone. I already have a blueprint, but I need to sit down with my technical team so that we have a common vision.

"We are working on a long-term project. Realistically, we will compete next season, but we can't be ruled out this season."
