'A loss is a loss': Komphela

Following a hurtful 3-1 defeat by old foes Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says his side had a bad day in the office.

The Buccaneers came out guns blazing to crucify Amakhosi in a League encounter at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

It was Chiefs’ first loss of the season and Komphela’s opening official Derby since taking charge of the reigning PSL champions.

"A loss is a loss, but worse so against Orlando Pirates. We'll have to go back and assess, then respond," Komphela said.

Pirates rise to 12 on the log, while Chiefs slipped to sixth position, just six points ahead.

"We didn't have the energy to recover when we lost possession. That's where we lost. We lacked the energy," he said.

"It’s never easy to lose a match, certainly not a Derby. When they got the ball, their transition forward was fast, with the intent to hit.

"Instead, we took it a bit slow in the transition. We have to go back to the drawing board and rectify this."
