A returning to Cairo in just under three weeks for Orlando Pirates is the reward for their exertions at the weekend as they finished second in their African Confederation Cup group after a 4-1 thumping by Zamalek.

It means that as runners-up in Group B they now take on the Group A winners Al Ahly in the semifinals, playing at home in the first leg and then being forced to travel for the all-important return match.

The first leg will be at Orlando Stadium on September 26 with the return leg just one week later in Cairo - a city now all too familiar to the Buccaneers.

It will be a fifth meeting in two years with the Egyptian giants, who Pirates met twice in the group phase of the African Champions League in 2013 and then again in a disappointing two-legged final where Al Ahly showed their superiority after Bucs had stunned them 3-0 in the group phase a few months earlier.

This year's other Confederation Cup semifinal pits Etoile Sahel of Tunisia against Zamalek.

The final of the Confederation Cup will be played more than a month after the conclusion of the semifinals.

The first leg will be on the weekend of November 20-22 and the return match the next weekend.
