Sono aims for the jugular

WINNER: Jomo Sono
WINNER: Jomo Sono

Jomo Sono says there is no point in trying to play strategically during the PSL promotion play-offs - he will set out to attack from the start in a bid to secure his club's return to the top flight.

Jomo Cosmos play in the opening match of the six-game post- season series away at Black Leopards on Sunday.

"We will attack them because this is no time to be looking to pick up away points or things like that. It's like a knockout game, so there is no point in going to look for a draw. If they score, we'll score. It will be an open game, we'll attack them. We'll start with Brice Aka up front and take the game to them," he said.

"I think all the teams [in the play-offs] are confident. It was funny I went to see Swallows play last week. I haven't been to any games this season. But I decided to go and see Swallows. I don't know why.

"They have good player in [Siyabonga] Nomvethe. They might be playing in bits and pieces but he is still a good player. That's the danger man that Swallows possess. If we can keep him quiet, we should be OK."

Cosmos clinched their play-off place by finishing second in the NFD, seven points behind winners Golden Arrows, and one ahead of third-placed Leopards.

Sono's side finished off their season on Sunday with a 2-0 away win at Cape Town All Stars.
