Ex Cosmos star appears in court

Former Jomo Cosmos midfielder Lebohang Morula, who was arrested in February for an alleged armed robbery in Mpumalanga, was among 10 men arrested this week for allegedly attempting to rob a lorry carrying cigarettes at Main Reef Road in Witfield.

According to Times LIVE, "The investigating team of the province and crime intelligence were following information of people who planned to hijack a cigarette truck," police spokesperson Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said.

"They made contact with the alleged 10 suspects and arrested them before they could hijack the truck. Among them two were found wearing full Johannesburg Metro Police Department uniforms, and one of the 10 is also a former PSL and Bafana Bafana player."

Three month ago it was alleged that Morula and his co-accussed were charged for being in possession of fire arms, stolen goods and armed robbery, adds Makhubela.

The accused played for Bafana Bafana once in a friendly match and was among the squad that travelled to France for the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
