Best selling top 10 soccer players shirts

There is not 'I' in team, that is a phrase commonly used in the sports world, however when it comes down to it; fans always have a favourite.

To show their support , most fans not only purchase the team's official jersey but they specifically go for the one worn by their favourite player.

This year, Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria topped a player shirt sales list released by sports retail company Sports Direct.

Big names that failed to make it on the top 10 are the likes of Harry Kane, Cesc Farbregas, Oscar, Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling-while Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez clinched 11th place.

"These statistics do suggest just how important sponsorship and image rights are for a club when financing a marquee signing. Based on shirt sales alone clubs would struggle to recoup the money they splash on the world’s best talent: a spokesperson for Sports Direct told skysports.com.

"There’s no doubt that these figures will have an impact on the European heavyweights of football as it appears that spending what could be dubbed as a ridiculous amount of money on a player could turn out to be a tactical decision."
