Banyana Banyana coach Vera Pauw has been given a new contract by the SA Football Association, chief executive Dennis Mumble has said.

Safa believe Pauw, pictured, still has a lot to offer women's football in the country, despite failing to qualify for the World Cup last year after Banyana finished fourth at the African Women's Championship in Namibia.

She'll be tasked with qualifying for the 2016 Olympics in Rio and developing more women coaches. Mumble, however, did not want to disclose the terms of the contract or how long it will run for.

"The coach's contract has been finalised. You will see her back from her leave, where there was a couple of things she had to go and do. We will see Vera in the next few days.

"I am having a meeting with her on Monday so that we can get the Banyana Banyana programme back up," Mumble said. "We need to strengthen her technical team to make sure that we can achieve the objectives we have set out for the team. Our policy is that we are not going to have men coaching women's teams."

The Olympic qualifiers kick off in May and Pauw will be under pressure to lead the team to qualification after the last coach, Joseph Mkhonza, led the way in London in 2012.
