Busy Lechesa on the move again

Duncan Lechesa's journeyman career has taken him back to Free State.

The former Free State Stars midfielder has been appointed head coach of Safa Vodacom League club Roses United. United are a feeder team to Premier Soccer League club Bloemfontein Celtic.

The 38-year-old's appointment was confirmed by Celtic boss Max Tshabalala yesterday.

"I can confirm that we have appointed Duncan Lechesa head coach of our feeder team Roses United FC as from today [yesterday]," said Tshabalala.

"We are trying hard to bring in people who will take this team forward. We are hopeful Duncan will achieve this goal."

Lechesa, who also played for Ajax Cape Town and Black Leopards, replaced Clinton Larsen, who has since returned to Phunya SeleSele as head coach after the dismissal of Ernst Middendorp.

Lechesa, who has coached Carara Kicks, Polokwane City, United FC and FC Cape Town, could not be reached for comment yesterday.

His last coaching stint was at National First Division strugglers GaRankuwa United, who are second from bottom in the standings.

He led them to one win, three draws and three defeats.

Tshabalala said Celtic were engaging Larsen and other technical staff members with a view to strengthening the squad during the current transfer window, which opened on Monday. But he would not identify their targets.

Meanwhile, Mark Harrison yesterday tendered his resignation as Leopards coach with immediate effect.

Lidoda Duvha said they were considering legal options as Harrison was contracted to them until the end of the season.
