PITSO Mosimane was happy to end a run of draws and snatch a victory over Maritzburg United on Tuesday.

"We haven't lost in a very long time," the Mamelodi Sundowns coach said following the 2-1 win at Harry Gwala Stadium.

"The last time we lost was against Orlando Pirates early in the season. But it is not about not losing, it is about winning. We have a lot of draws and they are not helping us at all. We should win, like we did in this game," Mosimane said.

The brightest spark in Sundowns' high-tempo performance was the form of Anthony Laffor, amid rumours of tension between the striker and Mosimane.

But the coach had only praise for the Liberia international.

"This win is good for us and it is good for Anthony Laffor because he has not been playing for a very long time. But he has been showing that he wants to play [and] we have been waiting for him to show us that he wants to play," Mosimane said.

"He is a good player and he can do whatever he wants with the ball. He has nerves of steel when it comes to the last third."

Maritzburg coach Steve Komphela bemoaned his team's inability to convert a good home game into a win.

The Team of Choice have yet to win at home since their October 18 victory over Platinum Stars, with Komphela saying that his team's generosity at home is irritating him.

"We are not losing points, we are donating them at home, starting with the Swallows game where we lost 2-1 even though we led until the 83rd minute. It was the same thing against the University of Pretoria, where we gave away a needless penalty, even though it could have been soft. It does not matter much now," Komphela said.

"Again in this game we were Santa Claus and the first goal Mamelodi Sundowns scored was a nice Christmas present. We gave them a nicely packaged gift and the second goal was the same case. This was a needless loss."
