KAIZER "The Animal" Mabuza was not concerned at all by a comment Solly Skosana made after yesterday's pre-fight medical for his challenge to Paul "The Natural" Kamanga's crown.

Kamanga is WBA Pan African junior welterweight champion.

Skosana, who examined the two fighters who will collide in the main bout of Gilmey Promotions' bill at Kibler Park Recreation Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday, innocently remarked that the 20-year-old defending champion was superfit.

"His blood pressure is 65 and that says that he is very fit," said Skosana. "He is in a superb physical and mental condition to partake in a boxing match."

Mabuza's pressure was 76.

Skosana said he would examine the two fighters again on Friday to make sure that nothing happened in between.

In the meantime, Mabuza said Kamanga must not be fooled by the doctor's comment: "I am going to give an explosive performance, bearing in mind that this could well be my last chance in boxing."

The 34 year-old challenger has held the SA, IBO, WBA Pan African and IBF Intercontinental welterweight titles in his 14 years as a professional fighter.

"This year is my last in boxing. I want to quit on a high note."

Mabuza has chalked up 25 wins, with 15 knockouts, from 40 fights.

Kamanga admitted that he would be in the toughest battle since he turned professional last year. The youngster remains undefeated after 13 bouts.

"I made sure that I trained even harder than ever. I had quality sparring from great guys like Malcolm Klassen and Zolani Marali. I also sparred with Vhonani Netshidamboni, who is much bigger so that I could get used to hard punches. I am 110 percent ready. I will retain my title," he said.

Promoter Adrian Meyer expects to stage an exceptional maiden tourney: "You can see that the two boxers who will top the bill are super fit."
