Papic makes plans for January transfer window

BRACE yourself for a new-look Polokwane City after the January transfer window.

Coach Kosta Papic knew what was in store when he joined the out-of-sorts Limpopo club.

But he is hoping for a change of fortunes in three months' time.

"When I took the job I knew it would not be easy. I now have to strengthen some areas and after what I have seen I know that I can build a very good and respectable team," Papic said yesterday.

Papic is confident he will turn his low-flying City into high-flying entertainers.

The Serb said he knew what was needed, the players he has to let go in January and how to raise City from second from bottom on the Absa Premiership log table.

"Management agreed with me that we need new faces, there is no doubt about that and we are going to work hard and try to make the team respectable," the coach said.

Papic, known for his philosophy of all-out attack, will have to make room for players who fit in with his style during the transfer window.

"There will be changes in certain positions in the team but I will give everyone a chance to prove that he belongs to the team," he said.

Although Papic has not been on the bench since joining the Limpopo club because of work permit delays, he is not spending sleepless nights ahead of their Telkom Knockout clash against Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

"I will possibly be on the bench when we play Pirates. But I am not worried because for now we have nothing to lose until we make a few changes," he said.
