THABISO "Shooz" Mekuto has left Chippa United less than two months after leaving Ajax Cape Town to take up a job as chief operations officer at the newly promoted club.

He is the second major departure following last week's resignation of Kosta Papic.

Mekuto confirmed he had left the job. "It was a nice experience, an interesting city and Chippa has a lot of potential but on a personal level there were things I didn't want to be associated with and that could have been done better," he said without further explanation.

Mekuto had been press officer at Ajax before moving to the Chilli Boyz.

The National First Division champions have moved to Port Elizabeth after being offered financial assistance from the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality but after a bright start to their campaign last month, when they beat Platinum Stars, they have gone four games without a win, precipitating something of a mini crisis.

Papic claimed last week he was leaving because he was not happy with the plans to appoint a technical director to take charge of the overall playing structures at the club.
