MAMELODI SUNDOWNS coach Pitso Mosimane said his side's 2-0 win over AmaZulu on Sunday afternoon was therapeutic and proved that the Absa Premier League title-holders were still up for the challenge this season.
A heavy loss at home to Orlando Pirates last Wednesday had left Sundowns in the bottom half of the table.
However, getting back to winning ways against Usuthu assured the supporters the club would still be among title contenders, Mosimane said.
The coach also praised two-goal hero Cuthbert Malajila and backed him to challenge for the golden boot.
"This was such a relief for us. You know the stress and pressure. We also wanted to show that we are still good because last Wednesday we missed chances that I had never seen us miss before. But [on Sunday] Malajila scored the difficult ones. There's a long way to go, but we are still in line with our vision," said Mosimane.
He then raved about Zimbabwean Malajila, who found the back of the net with two headers.
"He fights for his position, and everyone must do that. This guy is just interested in playing, he doesn't care about the fancy stuff and all that," said Mosimane.
His counterpart, Craig Rosslee, walked off the pitch with more disappointment as winless AmaZulu sank to the bottom of the table, amid suggestions he could face the sack.
"At the end of the day I know what I am doing when I go out there. Unfortunately I am not the one on the park," the coach said.
