South Africa and Sudan observed a minute's silence for Senzo Meyiwa ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The former national captain was shot dead in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting his singer girlfriend Kelly Khumalo last month. Two people allegedly entered the house and demanded cellphones before shooting Meyiwa and fleeing.

Darren Keet replaced Meyiwa in the team's starting line-up, while Dean Furman was named captain in his 23rd appearance for the national team.

The Sudanese national team held a poster with Meyiwa's face, sending their well-wishes to the family of the fallen goalkeeper.
