ADRIAAN Strauss is overdue a start, while Tendai Mtawarira, Victor Matfield and Morne Steyn's trusty familiarity should earn them a recall when Heyneke Meyer today reveals his Springbok team to play Australia.

Meyer looks likely to make at least three changes as he seeks improvement to his team's below-par performance against Argentina in Salta. The Boks still got the job done and wholesale changes were never an option.

Strauss last started when the Springboks played Scotland at Murrayfield last November, but he is back in the No 2 jersey at the expense of Bismarck du Plessis, who should drop to the bench.

Du Plessis has had a heavy work load this season but to be fair Strauss's stocks soared when he delivered a compelling performance off the bench with the Boks in trouble in Salta. His mobility and ability to affect play in the wider channels will be crucial against a team like the Wallabies who have combative ball winners on the wings.

Mtawarira is over his neck injury, which means Gurthro Steenkamp looks likely to fall out of the matchday squad. The grizzled Matfield is expected to bring calm and stability to the lineout in the place of Lood de Jager, while Steyn's experience and composure will see him get the nod ahead of Handre Pollard.

There may also be a change in midfield where Damien de Allende failed to convince against the Pumas, but that would mean captain Jean de Villiers possibly moving to outside centre to accommodate Jan Serfontein on the inside.

But Serfontein, along with Lwazi Mvovo and Francois Louw, is still trying to shake off flu.
