Why Keet's settled and Ngcongca anxious

DARREN Keet has hailed the influence of his new coach at Belgian league side Kortrijk, while at the same time his Bafana Bafana teammate Anele Ngcongca is an anxious man.

Ngcongca is anxiously waiting the appointment of a new boss after Emilio Ferrera was fired by Genk this week.

Former Belgian international midfielder Yves Vanderhaeghe has taken over at Kortrijk this season, his first coaching job, after long-serving boss Hein Vanhaezebrouck moved to Gent.

Vanhaezebrouck was the coach who brought Keet to Belgium from Bidvest Wits and installed him as the club's number one goalkeeper, but the Bafana international said he was enjoying himself under a new tactician.

"He is actually very similar to Vanhaezebrouck," Keet told Voetbalkrant. "I think Vanderhaeghe learned a lot from his predecessor, though he is a lot calmer than Vanhaezebrouck.

"The coach might not shout like crazy on the sidelines, but he lets the players know what he wants. I see him more as a player-manager in training, he often does the exercises with us.

"He even scored against me at training ..."

It is not such happy times at Genk, where they sacked Ferrera after just one game of the season - a 3-1 loss to Mechelen at the weekend.

Ferrera had recently been given a two-year contract extension by Genk, but after Sunday's loss the club decided he was not the man to take them forward.

Ngcongca, who is injured, will now anxiously wait to see who his new boss is, having just signed a four-year contract extension.
