THE final contracts committing newly promoted Chippa United to a new life in Eastern Cape will be signed today when the National First Division champions and the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality put pen to paper.

It is the final step in the move of the Cape Town club to Port Elizabeth, where the team will be based at the city's World Cup stadium.

The Chilli Boyz have been enticed by an attractive package of financial inducements, details of which have been closely guarded.

The squad, under new coach Kosta Papic, have been training in Cape Town and will move to Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.

United have already secured a friendly against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in what will be an official welcome match.

The club owner Siviwe Mpengesi warned several months ago of his plans to relocate, although it was initially suggested it was a ploy to force the hand of Cape Town authorities for similar benefits.

But Mpengesi called the detractors' bluff and announced the move, only to backtrack a few weeks later when it emerged that Maritzburg United, and not his club, were the primary target of the municipality.

But once the Team of Choice rejected the deal and decided to stay in KwaZulu-Natal, the way was open again for Mpengesi's side to resurrect their plans torelocate.
