WITH four of their final six matches away from home, Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa is sweating over the club's form outside of the Mother City that has seen them victorious just once in 11 tries so far this season.

In fact, Ajax have won just twice on the road in almost two years, a 1-0 success at AmaZulu in October 2012 and a 2-1 victory against a weary SuperSport United in November last year.

The likelihood of Ajax being drawn into the relegation scrap this season would seem small, but with trips to Moroka Swallows this Friday, then Maritzburg United, Bloemfontein Celtic and Platinum Stars, it remains a possibility.

"The away form is a concern, we have not been good on the road and we cannot hide from that," said De Sa, who has been in charge for an away draw at Free State Stars and a loss to Kaizer Chiefs.

"We are trying to find ways to break that spell, maybe it has become something of a mental block for us. But we will keep trying things, keep trying combinations and keep trying to do things better."

De Sa dismissed outright the notion his side could be drawn into the relegation battle, believing they are two points away from safety.

"I think that the comfort zone is 30 points, we have six games and two more points to achieve it. And we might not even need that many. The rest of this season is also about preparing for the next campaign, looking at where we need to improve, what are our faults, which players work well together.

"In many ways the players are playing for their futures, they are playing for the coaches and for future contracts.

"I don't see any complacency there, or a feeling they have got nothing to play for.

"There has been a lack of a lot of things in recent weeks, creativity is one, but we have been limited at times by the staff that we have available and the combinations that we have been able to play."

Ajax have scored 21 goals in their 24 matches this season, and only bottom side Lamontville Golden Arrows have netted fewer.
