Baxter's plea to Amakhosi

STUART Baxter has called on Kaizer Chiefs fans to build an intimidating wall of noise tomorrow night when the club attempt to salvage their hopes in the African Champions League.

Baxter wants the support of "the 12th man" to help motivate his players and intimidate the opposition as Chiefs seek to tour around a three-goal deficit against AS Vita Club of the DR Congo.

"I'd love to have a crowd that becomes a 12th man for us," he said on the eve of the third round, second-leg tie at FNB Stadium. "My message to the supporters is that if you really want us to get through this one, then give us a bit of a hand."

Baxter said he believed the difficult situation was still salvageable. "A 3-0 deficit seems insurmountable but it can be overcome. The challenge is for us to believe we can do it. We cannot afford to give away another goal. If we give up a goal at home then it's over."

Baxter said the best scenario for Chiefs would be to get an early goal, "then we need to just play normally and look for another goal to come but be patient".

"If we are 2-0 up after 60-70 minutes, then they (AS Vita) will be under real pressure, we'll have momentum, they'll be nervous and we can go on and do it.

"I don't think we'll have problem with motivation if the players understand the scenario properly and just play their normal game instead of panicking about getting goals, then we can upset them," Baxter said.

Meanwhile, SuperSport United welcome Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel to Lucas Moripe Stadium tomorrow in the Confederation Cup, eager to overturn a first-leg 0-1 deficit. Kick off is 8.15pm.

"We are geared for this game because of how well we did last Saturday," United coach Cavin Johnson told the club's website.

"We now have a great opportunity to settle the score and accomplish something that most teams in southern Africa have failed to do - to overcome a team from north Africa and progress to the next stage."
