Ndulula woes for Usuthu

AMAZULU may have signed former Lamontville Golden Arrows striker Lucky Nguzana on a rolling contract, but they are more worried about keeping their main man Bongani Ndulula on the park at the moment.

Ndulula is again an injury doubt for Usuthu's clash with Polokwane City at Princess Magogo Stadium tonight (7.30 kickoff) after sitting on the sidelines in Monday's training session with a heavily strapped ankle.

It will be a cruel blow for AmaZulu if their top goal-scorer fails a late fitness test as they were blunt in the 2-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns last week, but sharp as nails to beat Maritzburg United 3- 1 when he led the forward line.

Ndulula scored twice in the last game against a team that had not lost at home under Steve Komphela.

"Ndulula is still struggling with a knock that he picked up a couple of weeks ago. We thought he would have healed in the time he sat out on suspension," said coach Craig Rosslee.

"But that wasn't the case and we have to manage him. We took him off in the second half of the last game when he was feeling pain and he didn't train on Monday morning.

"His exclusion is critical for us because he showed hunger in the last game - it was a different, improved performance," he said.

Rosslee expects City, who have been plunged into the relegation mud fight, to come out fighting. City go to Durban needing to stay within sight of Free State Stars, who pulled out of the two relegation spots with a 3-1 win at Bidvest Wits at the weekend.
