'United not interested in Ndlovu'

Supersport United coach Cavin Johnson has denied the club is aiming to bring Bafana Bafana striker Dino Ndlovu back to South Africa in the current transfer window.

Reports suggested Matsatsantsa are looking for a loan deal in the final six months of the 23-year-old's contract with Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, before making the deal permanent when his contract expires in June.

But Johnson shot this down, saying at this stage the club was not interested. "There is no attempt to bring Ndlovu to SuperSport United, none at all," he said.

United are in the hunt for a striker after missing out on Lehlohonolo Majoro when the player decided at the 11th hour he did not want a move from Kaizer Chiefs to Tshwane.

At this stage, it appears as though Ndlovu is not on that wanted list, with various sources at the club unwilling to talk about player movements after they felt they were burnt by the Majoro affair.

What is known is that Ndlovu wants out of Haifa, where he has allegedly been racially abused and threatened by a section of the fan base.

It is unclear why this has happened to a player who netted 17 goals last season and became something of a cult hero among the fans.

Injury meant an early end to the last campaign and a late start to this one and, after no pre-season training, he has not been able to rediscover that form.

Ndlovu last started a match for Haifa on November 24 and has managed just two goals in the first half of the season.

He has previously played in the Premier Soccer League with Bloemfontein Celtic, but was also on the books of Platinum Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns.
