"Drivers will face heavy penalties up to the amount of R2125 per vehicle to get vehicles out of the police pound," Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said.

Cars without park-and-walk tickets would not be allowed beyond control points. These facilities were available at Shareworld, Cemetery, and Aeroton. Other motorists were advised to use park-and-ride facilities.

The designated areas were Constitution Hill, Thuso House in Braamfontein, Westgate, and the Metro Centre next to the Joburg Theatre.

City of Johannesburg spokesman Nthatisi Modingoane said motorists would pay R30 for a park-and-ride ticket.

"The security is included there, because we have security [guards] that would be looking after those cars," Modingoane said.

Soccer fans using Metrorail trains with valid match tickets could use park-and-ride facilities at various stations.

Metrorail spokeswoman Lillian Mofokeng said the company's security guards would look after fans' vehicles.

Barricades would be erected along Nasrec Road, between Randshow Road and Colorado Drive, and along the Soweto Highway between Mentz Road and the N1. Aerodrome Road would also be affected.
