Some relief for Igesund

BAFANA Bafana coach Gordon Igesund will have been a concerned spectator this weekend as a number of players who he hopes will join him for international duty this week were in action.

Igesund will have been fearing injuries for his stars, something that has been a constant theme through his reign, but most appeared to come through unscathed.

Ayanda Patosi made his first league start of the season for Lokeren, but could not help his side slip to a 2-1 loss at Charleroi.

Patosi played the first 78 minutes, which will be good news for Igesund, who has called him into his squad for the international friendly with Morocco on Friday.

The same goes for midfielder Daylon Claasen, who proved his fitness for that match by starting for Lech Poznan in their disappointing 0-0 draw at struggling Podbeskidzie.

As expected, there were no signs of injured stars Kagisho Dikgacoi and Steven Pienaar as their Crystal Palace and Everton sides lost 3-1 at Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.

Dikgacoi had already pulled out of Bafana's north African date.

Tokelo Rantie is still waiting for his first goal for Bournemouth despite starting in their 5-2 victory over Millwall in the English Championship.

It was another lively performance from the forward, though, as he terrorised the Lions backline with his pace.

Dean Furman and Bongani Khumalo both played the full 90 minutes for Doncaster Rovers as they beat high-flying Leicester City 1-0, arguably their best win of the season.

Young left-back Kgosi Ntlhe, who will also be in Morocco, played the final few minutes of Peterborough United's 2-0 win over Preston North End after coming off the bench.

Kamohelo Mokotjo played for PEC Zwolle in their 0-0 draw at Roda JC in the Netherlands.

Ricardo Nunes was restored to the starting line-up on the left wing for Slovakian side Zilina after a spell on the bench, but could not help his struggling side to a win as they were held 0-0 at home by Dunajská Streda.
