Manqele, Rodgers on PSL clubs' wanted list

MAMELODI Sundowns strikers Eleazar Rodgers and Edward Manqele, who did not play as regularly as they would have wished last season, have attracted the attention of several PSL clubs.

There are strong indications that they will make way for new arrivals at Chloorkop.

Downs coach Pitso Mosimane says the club has received enquiries for the lanky Rodgers from an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia, while both players are also on the wanted list of four PSL clubs.

"We are talking to these people in Saudi Arabia and the player's agent," said Mosimane. "There is nothing we can do if they want to leave. We are in a market where we are buying and selling without upsetting the balance of the team.

"We are also looking for two youngsters who are going to be part of the team that we are building for the future."

Downs have struggled in the past five years because of their quick-fix method of buying. They would grab any player who made the headlines, seemingly without looking at the balance of the team.

The coach said there is a general impression created that he went on a buying spree in the transfer market and people exaggerated the total number of the playing personnel at Chloorkop.

"We only spent money on six players and the rest came from good deals that did not cost us a cent.

"We have loaned out several of our star players like Nyasha Mushekwi, Siyabonga Ngubane, Themba Zwane, Sibusiso Khumalo and Wandisile Letlabika," he said.

"We are going to release others this week so that they can find clubs that they want to play for."
