FORMER Orlando Pirates winger Josephy Kamwendo has joined former African Champions League winners TP Mazembe in a R2-million transfer deal.

The talented Malawi international impressed the 2010 Fifa World Club Championships silver medallists' technical staff in Mozambique last weekend.

Kamwendo was part of Mozambique's Liga Muculmana de Maputo who were defeated 4-0 by Mazembe in the Caf Confederation Cup in Maputo.

Newly promoted Absa Premiership side Polokwane City technical staff members, led by coach Duncan Lechesa, were also watching that game in search of players.

Kamwendo joined Liga Muculmana on a 12-month contract in August last year after he was released by Pirates two seasons ago.

His contract with the Mozambican soccer giants ended last weekend.
