THE KIA Champ Into The Arena five-a-side soccer tournament has reached its climax with the finals scheduled for Randburg Sports Club on Sunday.

Six clubs will battle it out in the finals of this tournament, with the winners going to the world championships in Brazil from June 24 to 27.

The winning team will also get a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to watch some of their favourite global soccer stars competing in the Confederations Cup semifinals.

Some of the teams that have qualified for the finals include Dash Lolo (Johannesburg), FC Untouchable (Cape Town) and Mzanzi Legends (Durban). A total of 96 teams registered for the tournament with 32 teams participating in each provincial qualifier, and it is now down to six teams.

Last year's tournament winners, Untouchables FC from KwaZulu-Natal, almost got a podium finish at the world championships after being eliminated in the semifinals in Warsaw.

Tournament ambassador and former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Brian Baloyi said: "This has been a great tournament.

"We have seen some of the most talented players in all the regions where the games took place. The good thing about five-a-side soccer is that helps in terms of perfecting the dribbling skills and shooting."
