ANTHONY Laffor faces another test of his loyalties in the coming weeks as Liberia look to his services for two key 2014 World Cup qualifiers though Mamelodi Sundowns insist the mercurial winger is injured.

Laffor has been called up to resume his role of captain of his national team for matches in Uganda and against top-of-the- table Senegal next month.

But he has not played for the past two months because of an ankle injury suffered in his last national team game, when Liberia beat Uganda 2-0 in Monrovia in March.

The Brazilians have confirmed that Laffor has received a call-up but told Liberia that the 28-year-old is injured.

"The rules, however, state that he has to report to the Liberian officials who will examine the injury," said team manager Mike Ntombela.

"We have advised them that the player is injured and has not featured in any of our matches since his return from the last call-up."

Laffor will be under pressure to play in the two Group J matches for his country who still have a chance of winning their group and continuing on the road to Brazil 2014.

Liberia are away in Kampala on June 8, where Laffor is likely to go up against Sundowns teammate Denis Onyango, and then return home to host Senegal in Monrovia on June 15.

Last year Laffor was in a similar situation after missing the last of Sundowns' league matches because of injury but then earning the wrath of his club by playing international matches.
