BAFANA Bafana midfield sensation May Mahlangu has been persistently linked with a move from Sweden to France over the last few months but, according to his agent, there are many more suitors from other countries in Europe.

Mahlangu's contract with his Swedish club Helsingborg runs out at the end of the year but he is likely to move in June so that the club can cash in on a transfer fee.

French Ligue 1 club Valenciennes has been regularly linked with Mahlangu and confirmed their interest.

Just weeks ago Valenciennes officials told the French press they were still after the 23-year-old South African but had not taken the chance to buy him in the January transfer window.

It was in January that Mahlangu's profile got a massive boost with his performances for Bafana Bafana in the Africa Cup of Nations finals, shown worldwide on television.

His goal against Morocco in Durban in the second game of the tournament for the home side was one of the best of the event.

"There are now certainly a lot of other options," said Spain-based soccer agent Rob Moore, who gave no details of the other clubs allegedly interested. "We should know in about a one month or so which of the other countries have a serious offer.

"His profile got a boost at the Nations Cup, but I think the clubs that are really interested will be watching him now over the next months with what he does at club level in Sweden."

Secunda-born Mahlangu was voted the best player in the Swedish league at the end of 2011 and played Uefa Europa League football last year. He has won 10 caps for Bafana and is expected to return home next week for the World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic.

Mahlangu is a product of the Stars of Africa Academy and also played for Alexandra United. He moved to Helsingborg in 2008 and helped the club to the League and Cup "double" in 2011.
