Amakhosi tame Leopards

STUART Baxter never sits down, not during matches, and the Kaizer Chiefs coach would be hoping his team never easily tire this season and give up their current log position.

Amakhosi claimed their third victory of the SA Premiership from four matches against Black Leopards last night, winning the match 2-1 at Soccer City to shoot to the top of the PSL log again.

In-form Bernard Parker put Chiefs 1-0 in the lead when he converted a penalty in the 11th minute. This was a replay of the clash that was abandoned after 35 minutes on Saturday because of a freak hailstorm, with Chiefs leading 2-0 at the time.

Former Leopards player Kingston Nkhatha created the second goal to see Siphiwe Tshabalala netting his first of the campaign in the 70th minute.

Amakhosi almost squandered this simple win, letting Leopards back in, with former Chiefs player Brian Amidu coming off the bench to grab a late goal for the visitors in the 89th minute.

However, Chiefs held on for the vital, maximum points. Following last night's defeat, Lidoda Duvha surrendered their unbeaten run, while Chiefs fought for theirs in style.
