KHOTSO Mokoena heads to Monaco this week intending to hit the world stage with his full might.

The long jumper wants to unleash his true potential at the final pre-Olympic Diamond League meeting in Monte Carlo on Friday night, coach Hansie Coetzee said after the London Grand Prix, where Mokoena finished third with a jump of 8.24m.

Coetzee explained that since Mokoena had qualified for the Olympics, they had focused more on training rather than competition, saying that results had not been important - up until now.

"At Monaco we want to show our true colours. That's the final test before the Olympics," said Coetzee.

Mokoena said he was aiming to break the 8.50m African record at the London Games in their bid for gold.

• Caster Semenya is also scheduled to compete in Monaco, where her form will be closely monitored since she has yet to dip below 1min 59sec in the 800m this season.

Also in action this week is Oscar Pistorius, who will take part in a small meeting in Lignano tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, most of SA's Olympic swimmers are camped in Monaco, and their US-based teammates like Roland Schoeman and Darian Townsend - the only survivors of SA's golden 4x100m freestyle team from the 2004 Athens Games - are en route to join them.
