Safa must answer: Azapo

THE SA Football Association must account to the public for Bafana Bafana's dismal performances, the Azanian People's Organisation said

"Football is a national asset, and therefore needs to be publicly scrutinised on who should be in leadership," said spokesman Thole Somdaka.

"If football, our main sporting code, is to truly belong to the nation, we must have some public accountability by Safa, not only on finances, but on programmes and how such programmes assist this organisation in performing."

Somdaka also spoke about the Transnet School of Excellence, which was on the "brink of collapse" while Safa was doing nothing to remedy the situation. He said leadership squabbles within Safa were hampering development.

"The main cause of the squabbles is . access to bonuses (and) car allowances."
