Unbeaten Cloud to risk crown against Pascal

Undefeated Tavoris Cloud will risk his International Boxing Federation light-heavyweight crown against Canada's Jean Pascal on August 11 at Montreal, promoter Don King announced.

Cloud, a 30-year-old American, will make his fifth defense of the title he won with a unanimous decision victory over Britain's Clinton Woods in 2009.

Cloud, 24-0 with 19 knockouts, is coming off a controversial split-decision victory over Spanish southpaw Gabriel Campillo last February.

"It's going to be what I call a 'Release the Kraken' match," Cloud said. "Everybody knows I come to fight. What I like about Pascal is that he doesn't fool around either.

"When I look for him he will be there and the same goes for me. Fans like to see leather thrown with bad intentions and that's what they are going to get."

Former World Boxing Council light-heavyweight champion Pascal, 26-2 with one drawn and 16 knockouts, has not fought since losing his title to Bernard Hopkins last May, making the American the oldest champion in boxing history.

Pascal has fought only twice outside Canada, the last of those coming in 2008 when he lost to Britain's Carl Froch in England.

It will be nearly two years since Pascal has won a fight when he climbs into the ring with Cloud, his last triumph a stoppage of American Chad Dawson on August 11, 2010.

"I want to thank Tavoris Cloud for giving me the opportunity to fight for his belt and to prove who I really am in the ring," Pascal said.

"Having been away from the ring for more than a year, I am hungrier and more determined than ever to get back on top. I am going to get back on the throne for good."
