Shabba back to torment Bucs

Kaizer Chiefs winger Siphiwe Tshabalala has made a timely return from injury and is likely to feature in Saturday's Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates at Soccer City.

Tshabalala, who was sidelined by a knee injury for almost a month, has been training with the rest of the team for the past two weeks.

Chiefs general manager Bobby Motaung said: "Shabba is back in action. In terms of fitness level, that will be the decision of the coaches and the medical team.

"This is one game we cannot afford to lose at all costs and we are going for broke to win and consolidate our challenge for the league title.

"Saturday's derby has big challenges for all of us. Pirates want to win and move a step closer to defending their league title. We are also chasing the league title.

"What makes it even worse is that Pirates are having challenges of their own after the suspension of the coach (Julio Leal).

"We expect Pirates to come out guns blazing this time round. Their caretaker coach (Augusto Palacios) will want to come with a strategic game plan to impress in his first game.

"Our promise to the beautiful supporters of Chiefs is that we will make them proud on Saturday."

Chiefs' captain Itumeleng "Spider" Khune is equally confident the Buccaneers will fall again. Chiefs beat Pirates 2-1 in the first round at the same venue in September.

"Saturday's fixture is massive for us and we will be ready. We are disappointed that the midweek game against Ajax Cape Town was postponed," he said.

"We are unified by one objective, which is to win our next game. There is no way Pirates will beat us. The three points are going to Naturena again."

Pirates could unleash new recruit Sifiso Myeni in this game after he declared earlier this week that he was ready to feature in this historic derby. Myeni joined Pirates in January with a knee injury that has since healed.
