GAVIN Hunt did not write off his team's chances of taking the league title this season after yet another draw on Tuesday night (2-2 with Chippa United at Athlone Stadium) but has made it clear it would be a minor miracle if they were to get to the top of the table by May.

Comparing his latest crop to past squads that delivered league titles between 2008 and 2010, Hunt said while the 2012 team had plenty of talent they did not have the ability to grind out results.

"You need people to be able to grind out results if you are going to win the league. When we won the league before there were matches where we would win games by a goal here and a goal there, get ourselves just ahead and then doggedly hang on. But we haven't done that over the last years and now we don't seem to be able to close out matches," he said after SuperSport twice let the lead slip against Chippa United on Tuesday to draw an extraordinary eighth game out of nine in the league this season.

"We need to go like hell to have any chance. You need 16 wins to win the league, around 57 to 58 points. You need to win games against teams like Chippa and all the teams in the bottom half of the table and then aim to take points off the big teams too."

SuperSport next face Kaizer Chiefs, the only other unbeaten side in the league, at the weekend.
