Downs start to believe

AFTER dispatching AmaZulu 2-0 in the Telkom Knockout, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens boldly declared that his players were ready to face Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday night.

Sundowns, who are third from bottom, are at the opposite end of the Absa Premiership table to the Buccaneers, who occupy third spot.

"There is nothing new about Pirates; we know the way they want to play," Neeskens said.

"They are definitely a very good team but they have lost some games this season and they drew against AmaZulu. Hopefully this win can give my players a lot of confidence to face Pirates."

The Brazilians displayed one of their best performances of recent times but a side as disorientated as cellar dwellers AmaZulu was seldom going to expose Sundowns' weak defence.

The Buccaneers will.
