A STORM of flailing leather is threatening to destroy the Centre Court at Emperor's Palace on November 10.

This is because Danie "Tshwane Tornado" Venter has promised to blow Thabiso "The Rock" Mchunu to pieces during their collision at the casino in Ekurhuleni.

Their fight, the final of the Nashua Super 8 Last Man Standing cruiserweight tournament, is certainly not for the faint-hearted.

"I treat every fight like it is my last," Venter warned yesterday.

That was evident when he fought tough-as-nails Zack "Black Warrior" Mwekassa in the semifinal on September 20.

Mwekassa threw everything he had at Venter, but the latter absorbed the pressure as if his life depended on the three-legged tournament, the brainchild of promoter Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves.

Venter dropped Mwekassa with a vicious left hook and the Congolese lay flat on his back until counted out by referee Jaap van Nieuwenhuizen. Venter said he hit Mwekassa so hard that he broke his right hand.

"I had to put it in plaster but I am fine now, thanks to all my guys who have always been good to me, my brother Rudie and Brian Herman as well as my entire team," he said before sending a warning to his friend Mchunu.

"He must prepare himself for war. Our friendship will be suspended until after the fight."
