PSL to inject new blood into its senior ranks

A YOUNGER generation is expected to be gradually ushered into the PSL executive committee.

According to sources within the National Soccer League family, plans are afoot to groom some younger administrators to take over from veterans like Irvin Khoza, Kaizer Motaung and Mike Mokoena in running the PSL.

The PSL is expected to elect a new executive committee in Johannesburg, where Khoza is expected to be unopposed as chairman.

"The general agreement is that the chairman (Khoza) is doing a great job ... we have decided to retain him unopposed," said a PSL club owner who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Some of the senior administrators who are expected to return to the executive committee include Motaung, Jomo Sono and Mokoena. Black Leopards chairman David Thidiela has also been nominated to return to the executive committee he previously served on on five years ago.

AmaZulu chairman Vincent Sokhela looks set to step down due to ill health.

The younger generation that will be gradually ushered into the executive includes Floyd Mbele, Lunga Sokhela, Rantsi Mokoena, Nkosazana Khoza, George Comitis and Jose Ferreira.
