Banyana plans hit major snag

BANYANA Banyana have been forced to change their travel arrangements for a training camp in Cameroon due to the unavailability of direct flights.

Amanda Dlamini and company were supposed to leave for Cameroon today but will instead fly to West Africa on Friday.

The women's senior soccer team have decided to set up camp in Cameroon to prepare for the eighth African Women's Championships finals.

The biennial eight-nation tournament that also acts as an African World Cup qualifier will be played in Malabo and Bata in Equatorial Guinea from October 28 to November 11.

"We were informed that there are challenges with flights to Cameroon, which is the reason why we are going to Yaounde on Friday," said assistant coach Jerry Laka.

"We will be in Mbankomo (Yaounde) at the Confederation of African Football Centre of Excellence for the duration of our stay in Cameroon.

"We are making arrangements to play a warm-up match against Cameroon in Yaounde. They have also qualified for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

"The team will leave for Equatorial Guinea on October 25 or 26 for the tournament. We are happy with our preparations here at home."
