MOROKA Swallows will be out to avoid a cup final victory hangover and continue their winning momentum when they travel to Durban to face AmaZulu following their spectacular MTN8 win over SuperSport United on Saturday.

With the season's first trophy safely in the nest, the Birds turn their attention to the hapless Usuthu, who are giving away goals and league points with abandon. But Swallows have only beaten AmaZulu once in their past seven league meetings and must guard against complacency tonight (all games kick off at 7.30pm).

Zeca Marques's men, contrary to their cup form, have been inconsistent in the Absa Premiership so far this season, having lost twice and won twice in the opening four games.

Though the ensemble of castaways featuring former Orlando Pirates strikers Bennett Chenene and Katlego Mashego plus former Sundowns players Lerato Chabangu and Luvhengo Mungomeni has been superb up front, their defending has been loose.

University of Pretoria stunned them 3-2 last time out.

Rejuvenated Swallows striker Mashego will look to add to the three goals he's netted in the season so far.

His partner Chenene - who scored a marvellous winner in the cup final - will be a handful for an AmaZulu side that has let in 11 goals in four league matches.

Swallows have been bolstered by the return of winger Joseph "Dukuduku" Makhanya, who was out for almost four weeks with a knee injury. Veteran Siyabonga "Bhele" Nomvethe, who didn't start the cup final because of injury concerns, should be fully fit for this game.

AmaZulu coach Roger Palmgren won't be around to face the music if his team fail to get a much-needed result at King Zwelithini Stadium. Palmgren flew to his native Sweden to bury his mother.

Assistant coach Fanie Madida, who takes charge for the clash, has the difficult task of getting the players to finally put the ball in the net after five games in all competitions this season have yielded no goals.

Meanwhile, Golden Arrows, who beat Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 two weeks ago, travel to Bethlehem to face third-placed Free State Stars, who are often stubborn at home.
