Monterrey hope to meet Blues

ZURICH - Mexican club Monterrey will play the champions of Asia for a chance to face Chelsea at the Club World Cup.

Copa Libertadores champions Corinthians are in the other half of the draw.

The December 6-16 tournament in Japan involves six continental champions plus the host country's league winners. Chelsea and Corinthians get byes to the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, Concacaf champions Monterrey will play the Asian Champions League winners, which will be decided in November.

The tournament begins with a play-off between Oceania champions Auckland City and the J-League title-holders. The victor faces the African Champions League winners for the right to play Corinthians.
