A dramatic hailstorm at the weekend resulted in the match being declared unplayable - Chiefs were 2-0 ahead

KAIZER Chiefs will host Black Leopards on Wednesday in the replay of Saturday's abandoned match at FNB Stadium.

The pitch was declared unplayable after a freak hailstorm, leaving referee Daniel Bennett and match commissioner Stan Swart with no choice but to call off the game.

Amakhosi were 2-0 ahead - with goals from Bernard Parker and Kingston Nkatha - when the encounter was halted by the rain and thunderstorm in the 35th minute.

Parker's stunning goal from a free kick, scored in the third minute, will go down memory lane as one of the best strikes that never stood.

It would have been his fifth of the Premier League campaign in four games, continuing the forward's great run of form for Bafana Bafana and his club.

The league's rule 8.14 states that if the "match is abandoned through weather, all records of the postponed match will be expunged, apart from cautions or dismissals".

A decision to postpone the game was taken following a prompt meeting between the referee, match commissioner and representatives from both Kaizer Chiefs and Black Leopards.

  • The match will be replayed at 7.30pm at Soccer City. The Official PSL twitter feed says fans who still have their ticket stubs will be allowed entry. Tickets will also go on sale.
