This Absa Premiership match, not quite a baptism of fire for new coach De Sa, takes place at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
But it is a tricky encounter nonetheless for the former Bidvest Wits coach who replaced league title winner Augusto Palacios on Monday because the latter has a back problem.
Bucs captain Lucky Lekgwathi revealed this week that the players had met with the new coach as he outlined some of his plans for the club he has signed a three-year contract with.
"This (a new coach) usually brings a change of mindset and a different approach," said Lekgwathi on the club website.
"Roger de Sa met us and he laid down his intentions and expectations. We know what kind of coach he is and what style of football he wants us to play.
"He(de Sa) believes in good organisation and professionalism on and off the field."
The Buccaneers are ninth on the PSL table, and Lekgwathi said only a win could get the side back on track to defending their league title despite the fact that it is still early days in the season.
"I understand that this won't be easy and that Stars are a good side, but sitting where we are right now leaves us with very little (choice) other than to go out and fight tooth-and-nail for maximum points. A win puts us in the top six," he said.
A quick turnaround is expected from De Sa who takes over a team that has only registered one win in three league matches and surrendered their MTN8 title with the 3-0 defeat to SuperSport United last month.
Pirates have also failed to score in their previous four matches, including the two semifinal clashes against Matsatsantsa in the Top 8.
Pirates' last Premier League clash was a 3-0 defeat by Moroka Swallows at Orlando Stadium two weeks ago.
Former Bucs midfielder Benson Mhlongo is expected to be a pivotal cog for Dikwena against his former employers in a match that kicks off at 3pm.
