NO FEAR: Thabani Mthembu

AMAJITA are comfortable with having been drawn against Nigeria in the second round of the 2013 African Youth Championships and are hoping to beat them again in less than four months.

The once-feared Nigeria booked a place in the second round after registering a 2-0 win over Tanzania in Abuja on Sunday.

The day before, the South African Under-20 football team eliminated Congo Brazzaville through a 65th-minute goal by Thabani Mthembu at Millpark. Mthembu also scored the all-important away goal when they went down 2-1 to Congo in Brazzaville two weeks ago. The aggregate score was 2-2.

"It's a dream come true for us to play Nigeria. We beat them during the Cape Town International Cup earlier on this year and we want to do it again," said new Platinum Stars player Mthembu.

"It is good we are starting at home (on September 22, with the venue still to be decided by the South African Football Association). We need to wrap it up here at home and formalise it in Abuja."
