THULANI Serero scored for Ajax Amsterdam in their friendly match against Glasgow Celtic on Saturday.

Ajax thumped the Scottish champions 4-0 and Serero was given another start by coach Frank de Boer. He has now netted three times in pre-season, but this goal against more fancied opposition will be deeply satisfying for a player who has battled in his first 12 months in Holland since making the move from Ajax Cape Town.

The Bafana Bafana attacking midfielder showed excellent skill to beat a defender and drive the ball home midway through the first half.

l Kagisho Dikgacoi remains sidelined with the injury that saw him miss Bafana's internationals in June as his English Championship side Crystal Palace played their first game of pre-season - a 5-1 success over lowly Lewes.

l National Under-20 star Kgosi Ntlhe, who is expecting a big season at Championship side Peterborough, played as they lost 1-0 to Crawley Town. The 18-year-old made his debut for the side in the last campaign and is highly-rated by his manager Darren Ferguson.

lDaylon Claasen played the second half of Lierse's 1-0 win over Willem II. Anele Ngcongca played the full 90 minutes of Genk's 2-0 win over Fortuna Sittard. In League action, May Mahlangu helped steer Swedish champions Helsingborg to a 3-1 win over Syrianska to keep their title hopes alive, while a division below Bradley Ralani put in 90 minutes as Landskrona defeated Umea FC 2-1.
